Museums


Museums have always been a fun learning experience for me. The fact that my home state of New Jersey has so many to offer makes living here so much better! There is everything ranging from art museums to interactive museums. I personally prefer the interactive ones.

My favorite museum to go to as a kid was the Garden State Discovery Museum in Cherry Hill, NJ. Everything can be touched! Each room has a theme and my favorite room was the restaurant room. It’s a diner and fake food can be made in the kitchen. Then the food is served to the people waiting in the booths or at the counter. My grandpa would always sit at the counter and he would “eat” every meal I served him! Other rooms included the bubble room where giant bubbles were made form dish soap and rope. There’s also a room for drawing, pretending to be on a boat in the middle of the sea, an editor’s room for writing a newspaper, an entire wall that is a Lite-Brite, a theater room, etc. The amount of fun to have here goes on and on. My grandpa would take my sister and me to the Discovery museum every Thursday on his day off. Some of my favorite memories were made here.

Another favorite of mine is the Ripley’s Believe It or Not in Atlantic City, NJ. This museum is right on the AC boardwalk. While walking through, there are different facts and props that are entirely outrageous. Everything inside is bizarre and plays tricks with the mind. It is said that all facts are true but they can be hard to believe. There is a water fountain where the water is visibly going upwards (defying gravity). For the visuals, they can be explained with some thought, the facts on the other hand leave you to wonder.

I have also visited Heritage Glass Museum in Glassboro, NJ. I went there for a class trip in seventh grade. It was honestly beautiful. We were able to see glass being made and see it transform into a gorgeous vase. There were different buildings with different types of glass: stained glass windows, vases, and even a pottery building. They also had a huge playground for children to play on. Picnic tables were scattered about so that an entire day could be spent there.

Sterling Hill Mining Museum in Ogdensburg, NJ is definitely on my bucket list. It looks amazing and beautiful. All New Jersey museums are fascinating and worth visiting. I can not wait to visit more.

New Jersey is a beautiful state to live in and visit. There are a lot of national and state parks within this 8,723 square mile state. It is a park that experiences all four seasons which makes the nature within it that much more beautiful. My favorite park to visit is Cooper River Park. It runs through Pennsauken, Cherry Hill, Collingswood, and Haddon Township. It is a total of 346 acres. As a kid, going to this park was the best part of my weekend spent with my grandparents.   We would take a loaf of stale bread to feed to the birds and ducks in the river. Zoos & Aquariums

Zoos and aquariums are important to every state. They help preserve and save endangered species. They care for wounded wildlife and sea life. Animals are nursed to health at these sanctuaries. By visiting these beautiful animals, money is raised towards their survival. New Jersey has a large variety of zoos and aquariums that can be visited. I personally have been to five. My favorite to visit is the Cape May County Park and Zoo. It does not have a set price; at the entrance there is a mail box where they will accept any donation that can be made. Cape May has lions, snow leopards, giraffes, bears, camels, deer, birds, foxes, a reptile house, a bird house, a petting zoo, and much more. They have a large park with a playground and many picnic tables next to coal grills. This is a great place to spend the entire day. There is plenty to do and see at this zoo. Ski Resorts

New Jersey Ski Resorts are a rare sight but we definitely have them! And they are definitely worth visiting. You can’t forget about winter time. There are 3 ski resorts in the lovely state of NJ. The first ski resort is Mountain Creek in Vernon Township, NJ. It is 47 miles from NYC. It is the largest Ski Resort in New Jersey. This resort has 167 skiable acres and 4 interconnected peaks. They have a total of 7 ski lifts. Mountain Creek is known for being a resort that teaches. They offer golf, lodging, spa amenities, skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, many restaurants, and much more. A one day pass to all of these activities is $79 for adults and $59 for children. It might seem a little pricy but it is worth it. The fun from snow tubing alone pays for the ticket twice. The next ski resort is Campgaw Mountain in Mahwah, NJ. They are part of the Ramapo Mountain Region. There are 1.3 km of slopes and 2 ski lifts to transport guests.
