Parks

New Jersey is a beautiful state to live in and visit. There are a lot of national and state parks within this 8,723 square mile state. It is a park that experiences all four seasons which makes the nature within it that much more beautiful.

My favorite park to visit is Cooper River Park. It runs through Pennsauken, Cherry Hill, Collingswood, and Haddon Township. It is a total of 346 acres. As a kid, going to this park was the best part of my weekend spent with my grandparents.  We would take a loaf of stale bread to feed to the birds and ducks in the river. We would also watch the turtles walk in and out of the water. The playground is massive and I could spend hours there.

      The amount of activities offered at this park is endless. The have the playground with pavilions scattered around it. This provides plenty of space for parties and gatherings. They even have 4 separate picnic areas. There are 2 softball fields, 4 volleyball courts, and a cross country course. There are two bike trails: a 3.8 mile path and a 1.35 mile path. There is a 1.25 mile cinder track. They offer paddle boat and kayak rentals. The best part is the dog park! It is fun to take your dog there or to look at the cute puppies!

Throughout the year, Cooper River Park has events happening on the weekends. Many events are held at the Jack Curtis Stadium.  They send out a magazine with the dates and different events. They have concerts, fireworks, and different shows.

Their Fourth of July fireworks are the absolute best. The entire holiday can be spent there using the playground, picnic areas, and different sport courts. To end the night, you get to watch a beautiful 20 minute firework show. My childhood consists of this show every year and I couldn’t be more grateful for the memories.

Cooper River Park is my favorite park in New Jersey but there are so many more to love and enjoy. Find your favorite!
