Zoos & Aquariums

Zoos and aquariums are important to every state. They help preserve and save endangered species. They care for wounded wildlife and sea life. Animals are nursed to health at these sanctuaries. By visiting these beautiful animals, money is raised towards their survival.

New Jersey has a large variety of zoos and aquariums that can be visited. I personally have been to five. My favorite to visit is the Cape May County Park and Zoo. It does not have a set price; at the entrance there is a mail box where they will accept any donation that can be made. Cape May has lions, snow leopards, giraffes, bears, camels, deer, birds, foxes, a reptile house, a bird house, a petting zoo, and much more. They have a large park with a playground and many picnic tables next to coal grills. This is a great place to spend the entire day. There is plenty to do and see at this zoo.

Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ on the Delaware River Camden Waterfront is home to more than 15,000 aquatic species in 2 million gallons of water. It is home to the largest collection of sharks on the East Coast. It has the only hammer head shark on exhibit in the US. I love visiting this aquarium because they have penguins! They offer a membership for frequent visitors. They also have a marketplace with a delicious variety of food.

I also visit the Popcorn Park Zoo in Lacey Township, NJ with my little cousins. It is located in the Pine Barrens of Ocean County. They have exotic animals, wildlife, farm animals, and birds (more than 200 in total). They rescue animals that face horrible and deathly experiences. They give a lifetime of care for these innocent animals. Similar to the Cape May Zoo, they have a picnic area as well. Bring your own food or purchase cold drink, ice cream, popcorn, and peanuts. They encourage giving popcorn to the free roaming birds.

Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ has a large safari ride that displays their exotic animals and wildlife. They have over 1,200 animals from 6 continents. The safari is part of the experience after entering the amusement park.

Seaport Aquarium in Wildwood, NJ is right on the boardwalk. It is educational with workers supplying information as you walk through. They have hundreds of fish, sharks, snakes, moray eels, and alligators. They also have an interactive touch pool.

I love visiting zoos and aquariums around New Jersey because animals are beautiful. If my simple donation/admission fee can help just one animal, it would make my year. Make a day or even a vacation out of these wonderful places. Save the animals!
